As it turns colder, there's still plenty to do in Watford

As the new school term begins and there's a slight chill in the air, people may think that Watford will begin winding down, however there is still plenty to do.

There's gigs-a-plenty with the Pumphouse Jazz Club every Thursday, Watford Open Mic also at the Pumphouse every Tuesday, then with the Horns reopened and hosting live music most weekends, Sams bar located on Queens Road up and running with a new stage venue and Watford Philharmonic holding an evening of choral music at St Mary's on Saturday 26th of September. There's also the Octagon music society, Oxhey sounds and Audentior Orchestra as well as the Watford Dial Up who will be holding upcoming events in September and October. September is also the Herts Visual Arts Open Studios, plenty of artists in and around the local area will be hosting events and opening their doors for people to visit and experience their work. If you're looking for visual and fine art experiences, there's also Art in Herts on St Albans Road and Tina Lakes Cafe at the Pumphouse with new exhibitions. Amanartis, located in the Harlequin, has a brand new exhibition and the monthly art market held the first Saturday of every month at St Mary's Church right in the centre of the town.

September will also see the return of Heritage Open Days in Watford, with St Mary's Church, Hertfordshire Fire Museum, St John's Church and the Pumphouse all opening their doors for special events. More information can be found on the Heritage Open Days website but all events are free to the public, there's also a great couple of talks on local history.
